Potential JLMC Building Sites

Cynthia and I spent most of the day with the Luweero District Education Officer. We went to five different schools that had been making bricks for classroom blocks and other various projects. The district did an impressive job of staying in line with JLMC’s methodology when helping us to identify potential building projects. Many of the schools were in very poor areas, but the schools themselves were not in shambles and were performing at a very high level. The parents in all of these schools were very active and willing to do what it takes to make sure their children are getting a quality education. Many of these parents cannot afford to send their children to private schools, so they are doing what they can to get the government schools operating at an acceptable level in the hopes that their children can compete in higher education. We filled out site selection forms and took lots of photos of all of the schools.
Bwaziba Primary School Parents, Teachers, Headmistress & District Officer.
Bwaziba Primary School has already begun building a much needed classroom block.
The Parents at Kyevunze primary School have been working hard for weeks to make bricks just as the Just Like My Child Foundation Methodology requires.
The Kyenvunze Primary School pupils are crowded in classrooms that are in shambles.

These young parents of Kyevunze Primary School take their children's education very seriously.
Bukasa Primary School has established a Parents & Teachers Association that has been working to make bricks for a building project they've been dreaming up for over six years.
Namumira primary School has several temporary classrooms made out of mud, but they are lacking permananent rooms that provide a stable learning environment for the children.

The children of Namumira have smiles on their faces regardless of their plight.

The parents of Siira Primary School have been hard at work making bricks to add on to their overpopulated school.
Siira Primary School is one of the highest performing schools in the area so all of the parents wish to send their child to this school to learn.
