I went to Kampala to visit one of the Just Like My Child scholarship Recipients at St. Peter's Primary School. When Kiberu William saw that I arrived he ran to hug and greet me. He seemed very happy and he didn't stop smiling during my entire visit. His teacher is very impressed with him. William continues to excel in all subjects as the school year progresses. His marks in written English are remarkable, but he still lacks confidence in his ability to speak the language. His teacher predicts that William will succeed in academics and has every confidence that he will go on to Primary 4 next year.
I took some time to greet Williams mother and aunt, who had also come to check on William and bring him some delicious home cooked food. It made me overjoyed to see these adults in Williams life supporting him in his education and putting value in the opportunity he has been given. It was very obvious to me that William took a great deal of pride in the fact that he had so many visitors.
We had a very lovely time!
