We found Ben and several other people digging the foundation along with the secondary school boys making bricks. The sun was really beating down on everyone. Unfortunately the ground is much rockier than they predicted and with the soil so dry they were having a really difficult time with the first stages of the foundation digging process.
Ben told us that he started a competition between two groups of boys. They alternate days and compete to see who makes the most amount of bricks daily. Ben says that both groups talk and talk all day about how they are going to beat the other group. I asked this particular group who was winning the competition and they said that they were in the lead, but Ben says that it doesn’t matter which group of boys you’re talking to. They both give you the same story. Ben also mentioned that he is so proud of them for working so hard for the community. By tomorrow they will have completed well over 10,000 bricks.
